What is CMS (Content Management System)?

A CMS system is aimed at people or companies who require management of their website content, documents etc. A good example of a CMS website would be a eCommerce website. All eCommerce website owners would require the following functions in order for their on-line business to be a success.

  • The ability to update their products. Add new products and edit existing products. (Prices, Images, Descriptions, Shipping etc)
  • The ability to update product categories, sub categories, specials
  • To manage users who have registered on their website
  • To view orders placed ad shipping details
These are just a few "typical" functions that a CMS system will allow you to perform.

What does Imbali Studio do?

Everything! We specialise in Custom Content Management systems. There are many easy to install CMS systems out there, but the 1 major negative factor of these is - It's NOT customizable, meaning that you will have a list of tasks you can perform, that's it. What if you want to run a report on all new registered users between a certain date and age? Or if you would like the documents available on your website, to be linked directly to your companies server?

Some of the more common CMS systems available are:
Joomla    MAMBO
Wordpress

Each of these are great, but for the purpose they are designed for: set functionality and quick setup and management. They are still not tailored specifically for you. Most of these solutions have major security vulnerabilities due to the wide spread and easy access of the source code. Spam attacks, hacking and bandwidth theft is a common occurence!

Be careful of web design companies who charge good money to setup these sites for you. It's incredibly simple and easy to install. Don't be fooled!

In a nutshell, a CMS system is a tool developed to allow easy management, maintenance and business functionality for your website. It can be really simple, performing only 1 or 2 tasks, or it can be highly complex and specific.
